October 2019 to October 2020

Ancient Technologies is a collaborative student exhibition developed in partnership with capstone course ANCH3030 Special Topic in Roman History and the RD Milns Antiquities Museum. This Work Integrated Learning partnership offered students the opportunity to research artefacts in the Museum collection and curate a special exhibition based on the course themes of technology in the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. Ancient Technologies explores the achievements and advancements of ancient technologies along with the social, political, economic, and environmental impact of these technologies on the ancient world.

On display until October 2020 are the three outstanding group contributions chosen by Dr Janette McWilliam, Museum Director, and Mr James Donaldson, Senior Museum Officer.

Ancient Technologies Student Exhibitions Opening

Throughout Semester 2, 2019, students enrolled in the Ancient History capstone course ANCH3030 Special Topic in Roman History have been working with their industry partner, the RD Milns Antiquities Museum, to curate a special exhibition Ancient Technologies. By incorporating ancient artefacts from the collection, 107 interns, working collaboratively in groups of 5-6 with Museum staff, explore several important ancient technological advancements and achievements that have influenced the ancient Mediterranean and modern worlds. Please join us in celebrating this inaugural Work Integrated Learning research partnership, and the innovative work of the ANCH3030 students, who will be on hand at the event to discuss their group and individual contributions to the exhibition.

Light refreshments will be served from 6:00pm and a paid bar (card payments only) will be in operation for alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages will be served at no charge.
