The Charles Ede Antiquities Museum Prize valued at $250.00 is offered annually to a student currently enrolled in a Classics & Ancient History course, whether undergraduate or postgraduate, for a piece of written work of 1,500 words focusing on an aspect of the RD Milns Antiquities Museum collection.
First awarded in 1998, the Charles Ede Antiquities Museum Prize is maintained by an annual gift from Mr James Ede in honour of his father, Mr Charles Ede. The Museum has a long standing relationship with Charles Ede Ltd., a renowned London based ancient art gallery, established by Mr Charles Ede in 1971.
Submissions may comprise a study of a single object or a group of objects, housed in the Museum, whether on display or in storage. Alternatively, a submission can treat an aspect of Museum management, such as curatorial process, display ideas, and collection management.
Documentary Evidence Reports, Object Analyses, and Research Essays submitted for ANCH courses (past and current) written on and/or including objects from the Museum may be submitted for consideration, but must be revised to comply with the submission requirements.
Submissions must be in essay format of no more than 1,500 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography) and must follow the referencing conventions in the Classics and Ancient History Referencing Guide. Essays must be submitted with a cover sheet marked "Ede Prize", along with the entrants name, student number, UQ email address, and a list of the ANCH courses taken this year.
All submissions to be sent to Dr Janette McWilliam (j.mcwilliam@uq.edu.au), Museum Director, RD Milns Antiquities Museum, via email no later than 5pm Sunday 24 November, 2019. Submissions will not be accepted after this date.
