2021 COVID-Safe Education Programs

Due to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19 the RD Milns Antiquities Museum will be offering a set of programs for 2021 which will be delivered with physical distancing.

Although these programs will be delivered in a slightly different way they will cover the same content as our usual programs. Please note that the tours will now feature an audio-tour component. For the full list of available tours and workshops, see below.

There will be a limit of 39 students per visit. Groups larger than 39 will have to visit over multiple days.

In addition to these on-site programs, we are developing a set of virtual tours and workshops. These programs will follow the same content and structure as a usual tours, but will be delivered virtually to the classroom via a video conferencing service (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.). If you are interested in booking a virtual program and would like to know more, please email an expression of interest to antiquitiesbookings@uq.edu.au

Visit Types

The RD Milns Antiquities Museum's education programs are aimed at secondary school students. All of our program options are aligned with the Australian Curriculum: History for Year 7 and Queensland Senior Ancient History Syllabus.

A visit to the Antiquities Museum can be 1 to 3 hours (depending on group size and availability).  You can choose from a range of thematic tours and hands-on workshops, each 1 hour in length, in order to customise your experience.

We also offer an Ancient Egypt Experience program aimed at students from Year 7-10. This is a set program of three 1 hour sessions and is designed to immerse your students in the ancient world.

General Interest Groups and Other

Please note that while our education programs are aimed at secondary school age students, they can be modified to suit other age groups.  We suggest that groups discuss these options with Museum staff prior to booking.
