The Roman Republican Coinage Masterclass is a free academic skills event that invites UQ students to explore coins struck in the Roman Republican period and learn the basics of working with ancient coins.

In this masterclass, students will join Dr Kit Morrell and Museum staff for an introductory workshop on Numismatics: the study of currency. Using examples from the RD Milns Antiquities Museum’s collection, students will learn how to handle and identify Roman coins, navigate coinage catalogues and databases, and use coins as evidence.

Do not miss this opportunity to handle real Roman coins, develop new research and source analysis skills, and learn how to incorporate numismatic evidence into your studies and research. The material in this masterclass is beneficial for students currently enrolled in ANCH1250, ANCH2320, ANCH2301, and ANCH3570.

A free lunch will follow the masterclass.

This event is supported by a grant from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Student Futures team.

Registrations closed.
